In September participants from the sports and betting industry and media representatives were invited to the BVB-Arena in Dortmund. Top journalists from the Springer publishing house, Sky and Sport1 followed the presentations as well as representatives of various sports institutions – moderated by the experienced and competent ARD sports presenter Okka Gundel.
"Bwin - like the whole sportsbook industry in general - is an important partner for us," says Play Fair Code CEO Severin Moritzer, "and of course, as an experienced, internationally recognized institution, we want to play our part in discussing the integrity of sport. Although the approaches and motivations for match-fixing and betting fraud are different, sport, economy and integrity institutions such as the Play Fair Code share the same goal: to contribute and to act, to guide and to work together in order to combat match-fixing and to work with all stakeholders to the greatest extent possible to ensure credibility at sporting events."
The conclusion of the forum was that integrity is a common task and can only be achieved and maintained through joint efforts. Efforts that are particularly on the shoulders of policy makers (government regulators), sports leagues, associations and sports betting providers. Martin Lycka, Head of Regulatory Department GVC / bwin: "As one of the world's largest and most successful sports betting and gambling companies, we aim to meet the highest standards in all our activities."
That clearly includes integrity in sports.
