The integrity officers of the sports federations football, ice hockey, basketball, tennis, handball, table tennis and from the Austrian Olympic Comimittee and Sport Austria gathered for the 1st Play Fair Code Integrity Officer Summit on March 16, 2023 on the initiative of the Play Fair Code.
After a brief welcome and technical introduction by CEO Severin Moritzer, Chief Inspector Franz Schwarzenbacher, Head of the Integrity in Sports Unit for doping, drugs and betting fraud at the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), gave interesting insights into the recent manipulation case in the Football Regional League (3rd League) underlining the cooperation between his investigation unit, the Ausztria Football Fderation and the Play Fair Code.
Football Integrity Officer Andreas Baumgartner reported on his experiences and perspectives regarding the association's internal processing of the case and the preliminary phase of sanctions.
Play Fair Code Ombudsman Peter Sander introduced himself and his function and briefly explained organizational and content-related processes of his work.
The lively discussion that followed underlined the importance of this new format and the aim for constantly deepening the cooperation between the federations and the public (investigating) authorities.
